5 Reasons Why WordPress is the Best CMS
I find it interesting that so many people have a bad perception of WordPress, I can’t tell you how many clients have scoffed at the idea of building a WordPress site, only to realize later how much they love their new sites. I think this misconception (like many others in our industry) comes from bad Web Designers who sell $200 0 effort WordPress sites because of their ease of creation. The fact is that WordPress truly is the best and most used CMS (Content Management System) available and here are 5 few reasons why:
1 – Client Friendly
The purpose of a Content Management System is to well… manage content, and if you don’t like having to fight your CMS then WordPress is the answer for you. I’ve spoken to countless clients who have their sites built on either Joomla, Drupal, or some other custom CMS and they won’t even dare to attempt to edit or add content to their site without the help of their web guy. This can either be a good or bad thing for a Web professional, the benefit being additional management fees, the negative being a constantly filled email inbox with changes from all your clients. Here at Lucid we like to empower our clients to make content (and other) changes themselves and WordPress does just that. Their dashboard is simply and easily laid out so that if you can use Microsoft Office, you can use WordPress.
2 – SEO Friendly
Google loves WordPress, the structure of the permalinks (not by default unfortunately) allow for easily created keyword friendly urls and the plethora of SEO plugins makes everything on-page related a snap. By simply adding a Google XML sitemap plugin as well as my personal favorite the All-In-One SEO plugin you can submit your site to Google’s index and take proper care to insure that you are creating pages that are properly optimized for your target keywords.
3 – Plugins Galore
There are over 24,897 free plugins available @ WordPress.org for WordPress at the moment, that is more than every other CMS combined. So what does that mean for you? Simply put you can extend your WordPress site to do almost anything you can imagine. There’s a plugin for almost anything you can imagine and as a web design professional this is a great asset for clients that need sites that do more than just present simple content.
Some of my favorite plugins are:
Contact Form 7 – This plugin creates any kind of contact form you can imagine (Still waiting for 8 to come out ☺)
Akismet – This plugin controls comment spam on your site/blog (Installed by default on a lot of different C-Panels)
Max Buttons – Creates amazing looking CSS3 buttons without having to fuss with CSS
Slick Social Share Buttons – This plugin creates a slideable social media bar that allows users to very simply share your pages/posts (Check the top right of this page to see it in action)
4 – Themes Galore
If you are a web design pro you have more than likely heard of ThemeForest, & although it is true that they offer themes for many popular CMS’ they are all trumped by the huge library of WordPress Themes. You can also find a huge library of free and paid themes on WordPress.org, although they are usually not as high quality as those on ThemeForest. These WordPress themes span over a huge amount of different verticals and can usually be installed with little or no trouble & can be customized with some basic to mediocre knowledge. This is as opposed to the many different Joomla, Drupal, & Magento themes I have worked with in the past that are (to say the least) not as easy to work with. There are also a large number of themes that serve a different purpose such as Tube Themes (to create video sites), Directory Themes, & Medical Themes just to name a few. WordPress really can take on many different forms.
5 – The Support
Between Odesk, Elance, Gurus and a plethora of other freelance websites the number of WordPress Professionals is outstanding, which offers those working on the platform an endless amount of avenues when they hit speed bumps. For us Web Professionals this is a very comforting fact, even more comforting is the knowledge that because there are so many WordPress Professionals that they tend to be slightly less expensive than those who work with Joomla, Drupal, or other CMS platforms. This rush of support creates a high competition among these development pros that allows us to find high quality, low priced WordPress specialists who can help us at any hour that we need.
These are only a few of the many reasons why millions of people use WordPress and why it will only continue to grow as the best CMS available. For more info on WordPress Development or if you just want to talk to the best Miami Web Design team available. Give us a call today! 800-295-0307
